The Art of Co-Captain Pastras; Then and Now

Friday, February 26th 2010

Earlier this week, Upper Playground had posted a clip of a classic interview with Chris Pastras that was shot and produced in 2004 for 'The Run Up' which delves into the creative world of the Co-Captain.  In it, he discusses how skating and art have both been a part of his life since the age of seven and refers to the aesthetics and design of Stereo as separate version of his art. Creating art for Stereo projects is almost a methodical procedure and more like planning a road trip.  There's a beginning (such as a mission to create board graphics, magazine ads, etc.) then there’s the journey (deciding what art, photos, and color schemes to use) and ultimately a destination (final product). His free art allows more time for creativity as he relies more on raw ideas and emotion to dictate what comes next.
