Agency Thursdays: Ben Gore and Brian Delatorre in Caffeine Shakes

Agency Thursdays: From Isaac Randozzi
Ben Gore and Brian Delatorre
In: Caffeine Shakes.

One of the great things about the age we live in is the gradual shrinkage of technology. Smaller and easier to use and lose; these pocket media centers give us great chances to take photos and grainy video at a moment’s notice but with one major downside. They appear to be prone to the coffee shakes. Filming with something that weighs less than an unburdened African Swallow can be difficult under the most sober circumstances. The epileptic like shakes that a strong mocha or triple espresso can help to put the spring in your morning step, can also induce give a jittery effect to the footage. Forget about filming lines, the rough and cracked alleys of San Francisco make that nearly impossible with regular wheels. This footage is from a couple days of fun in the sun in the City with Brian and Ben, giving you a jumpy glimpse of some of their daily skate habits.

—Isaac McKay-Randozzi, my dumb luck

Stereo Downtown Sunday Art Show Slideshow

Here's a good luck at what Clint's old warehouse in Downtown Los Angeles looked like this past Sunday if you were on site for the Stereo Art Show. A benefit for freearts.org, a non-profit that raises money for art supplies and classes for abused children, the event also came handily stocked with PBR tallboys. Thanks to the folks at Fantastic Matter for the photography. And thanks to everyone for coming out. Next time the ramp is getting some good old-fashioned skateboarding. In the meantime, welcome to the Stereo Group Art Show on 6th Street.

John Bradford has posted up Part 1 of a mini blog he'll be rolling out over the next couple of days on the Skateboarder site. In his own words, "In an economic climate where most companies are hedging their travel plans and minimizing travel, the team over at the Stereo Sound Agency took it upon themselves to plan and execute their own roadtrip. Raymond Molinar loaded up his RV with his teammates and friends and hit the road for 2 weeks. An article in Skateboarder is in the works as everyone on the trip came back with multiple photos and clips... Here is part one of a short blog series on the excursion.
Lee Yankou Concrete Cover, Rick Ibaseta Nimble, and Pastras Weekly Image

The new issue of Canada's Concrete landed at the office a few days back and our man Lee Yankou (still lovin' that part) chalked up a seriously dipped front smith for the cover. From their blog, here is the story behind the photo:

"This particular San Francisco session with Toronto’s Lee Yankou happened after a full day of skating with some of his Stereo teammates. After showing Lee a photo of this bump-to-ledge in the Financial District (which Geoff Clifford had previously brought to my knowledge in the city I live in!), we decided to call it quits and reunite later that night. I was pretty skeptical about anyone’s ability to get something on this ledge – it’s stomach-high. Lee gave up on trying a 5-0 after landing a sketchy 50-50, then proceeded to do the most humanly proper Smith Grind on it. Pop, lock, and drop – plus a spark thrown in for good measure. After reviewing the photo we realized the smith was so dipped that Lee’s front truck was grazing the lower ledge." —Concrete Skateboarding

Props Lee! Meanwhile Stereo Alum and OG EMB ripper Rick Ibaseta has launched a brand new shoe concept aimed at the toddler market. Keep your wee'uns' toes warm in style with Nimble Footwear. In further early week banter, Skate Daily's Weekly Image serves up one from the vaults with Mr. Pastras and Sir Boulala circa 2003 (below). Finally, Raymond's RV Tour wrapped over the weekend so stay tuned for complete and imminent coverage.

Creating art for Stereo projects is almost a methodical procedure and more like planning a road trip. There's a beginning (such as a mission to create board graphics, magazine ads, etc.) then there’s the journey (deciding what art, photos, and color schemes to use) and ultimately a destination (final product). His free art allows more time for creativity as he relies more on raw ideas and emotion to dictate what comes next.

Below are a few pictures of Chris working on a Dew sponsored Watts Towers mural at P. Rod's TF. Photos of the completed mural coming soon...

Art from Co-Captain Pastras will be shown during The Manifest Equality‘s art contest in Los Angeles to help contribute awareness towards equal rights. Manifest Equality, which also has a gallery space in downtown LA, has assembled a panel of judges, who range from the Mayor of Los Angeles (Antonio Villaraigosa) to Vogue editor (Lisa Love) to established artists themselves (Shepard Fairy, Edward Ruscha), will pick five, 1st prize winners that will have the honor of showing their work from Wednesday, March 3rd – Sunday, March 7th (also known as Oscar Week).

The judges will also choose ten 2nd prize winners who’s art will be showcased along with the 1st place winners on the Manifest Equality online gallery. Judges will be critiquing the artists submission on the contest’s six themes; Equality, Justic, Respect, Unity, Civil Rights and Love.

Report filed by Derek Rinaldi
